The Union picked up two prestigious new awards at the inaugural Marketing Excellence Awards 2005. The agency entered two papers on behalf of Quality Meat Scotland, the organisation responsible for marketing Scotch meat products in the UK. The Scotch Pork campaign won a Strategic Excellence award for Best Customer Insight, beating 5 other finalists. The work for Scotch Beef – now one of the most iconic advertising campaigns in Scotland – helped QMS and the Union pick up a Business Excellence award for Marketing Achievement. There were over 170 entries this year, with only 20 awards given out on the night. The Union was also shortlisted in the Marketing Services Company of the Year category. Two of the Union’s other clients also had success on the night. Miller Homes was a finalist in three categories, and S1 won Brand Company of the Year.
Giles Moffatt of The Union said, “It’s good to see our work being recognised not just as advertising, but as a major contributor to the overall success of our clients’ marketing programmes. It was also good to see QMS being rewarded for the highly professional approach to marketing they have implemented over the last few years, despite the fact they are a relatively small organisation.
