Give me cycle space
Cycling is good. It’s good for your health – it helps keep you fit. It’s good for the environment – no CO2 emissions. Consequently Cycling Scotland’s mission is to get more people using bikes. And what better place to start than with young people? Cycling to school should be the norm, not the exception. However a major barrier is safety, and the biggest threat to cyclists, especially young cyclists, is the motor car. The Union distilled the message down to ‘Give me cycle space’. The award-winning campaign that followed was aimed at both encouraging young people to take up cycling, as well as giving motorists some simple and memorable advice. A win win for the bicycle we think.
